Internship
An internship in Senator Roland W. Burris’s office is a wonderful opportunity to gain a behind-the-scenes look at how the government operates. Interns have the unique chance to support the staff and its efforts to effectively meet the needs of the Illinois constituency. Interns maintain the administrative duties in the office. Based on each intern’s policy area of interest, he or she will have the opportunity to work closely with the legislative team that handles that area. Interns are able to attend committee hearings, draft correspondence, and meet with the Senator. The Intern Coordinator also organizes special events to compliment the internship experience. All internships are unpaid. Senator Burris has internship opportunities in Washington, DC, Chicago, IL and Springfield, IL. All majors are encouraged to apply. Senator Burris’s office accepts intern applicants from both undergraduate and graduate institutions. Applicants see below for an official application. Applicants must complete and submit an official intern application along with all supplemental documents to their office of interest.
